Hello again,
I loved the term “faux librarian” – think I will adopt it. I’m currently learning cataloging (or is it data entry?) as one of a three person staff at our very small library (Plympton). Before that I worked the circ desk for several years. My bachelor’s degree was in Biology and I worked for many years as an RN, so a very winding road.
I’m not too tech savvy as far as using a lot of internet applications. I do receive postings from FictionL which I enjoy, but don’t always keep up with. Enjoyed reading all the intros from other course members.
Good luck to all.
Kathy K.

Happy to “see” you in the class Kathy. I imagine with a three-person staff, it’s hard to get out of the building for face-to-face classes.

Hey, Kim, we also use the term “feral” librarian after our Children’s Librarian, Stu Parsons, was selected as one of the 2006 NY Times Librarian of the Year people. We’re just a little on the wild side. kj

Faux, Feral, Former… Sound like fee fi fo fum…..Though I’m between libraries right now, with a possible career change, I’ll always be a librarian at heart!

Kim-cataloging is so much easier today than it was; it has become a treat for me when things finally get quiet sometimes and I can actually do it. IF you can possible believe this: in college we could not get out of library school without typing a PERFECT set of card catalog cards on the typewriter. Does that not seem like The Days of the Dinosaurs? Susan
